This particular cantilevered, self-threading web accumulator was designed for narrow web. Upon operator initiated indexing of the turret, the accumulator activates, collecting 40 feet of web. This creates a ten second window to allow the operator to cut & transfer at the rewind position without halting production.

Shown on the left is the entry point tension isolation nip (1 of 2) and the self-threading feature of the web accumulator.
When the accumulator activates the lower tier of cantilevered shafts (which are attached to the black plate) are raised along a vertical track.
